Dig Where You Stand’ Exhibition Now Open in Benin, Running Until December 1, 2024

The thought-provoking exhibition Dig Where You Stand – From Coast to Coast has officially opened in Benin, offering a powerful exploration of themes such as decolonization, restitution, and repatriation. Running until December 1, 2024, this exhibition is part of a larger project that spans multiple coastal African cities, each uniquely addressing these critical issues.

Curated by Delali Ayivi, this iteration of the exhibition takes place in both Cotonou and Ouidah, bringing together a collection of works from the KADIST collection. With a focus on re-examining identity, the exhibition incorporates a range of visual art, sound installations, and performance pieces, all designed to foster dialogue that transcends borders and societal divisions.

Dig Where You Stand not only bridges local and global conversations but also challenges audiences to think deeply about the legacies of colonialism and the ongoing efforts for restitution and cultural repatriation.

This compelling exhibition has been made possible through the generous support of key sponsors and partners, including the National Geographic Society, Open Society Foundations, Outset Contemporary Art Fund, Les Ateliers Coffi, Fondation Zinsou, and KADIST.

Visitors are invited to explore the exhibition at both locations before it closes on December 1, 2024.
