Hope Blooms: Art Through the Eyes of Children Battling Cancer

The Children’s Art Gallery (TCA), in collaboration with the Children Living With Cancer Foundation (CLWCF), is proud to announce its upcoming exhibition, Hope Blooms: The Art of Bravery and Joy. This inspiring showcase of artwork, created by children living with cancer at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), highlights these young warriors' resilient and creative spirits.

Running from September 27 to October 6, 2024, the exhibition is part of TCA’s Art Wellness Initiative, which uses the healing power of art to uplift children in hospital settings. Through monthly workshops, these children have expressed their journeys, fears, and hopes through paintings, drawings, and prints, offering viewers a unique glimpse into their world.

The exhibition isn’t just a celebration of creativity, it’s also a vital fundraiser. All proceeds from the sale of artwork and donations will go directly to CLWCF to support therapeutic art workshops, family support programs, and cancer research initiatives. According to Dr. Nneka Nwobi, founder of CLWCF, “Every contribution helps these children find strength and hope in their battle against cancer. Together, we can bring them closer to a future full of possibilities.”

This year’s exhibition builds on the success of the previous edition, where Two Million Naira was raised for CLWCF. Josephine Iyabo Iwatan-Israel, curator of the exhibition, reflects, “Seeing the passion these children have for art and the resilience they display through their work has been life-changing. It’s an honor to be part of their journey.”

Hope Blooms is not just an exhibition, but a testament to the healing power of art and the unyielding strength of children battling cancer. Admission is free, and all are encouraged to attend, support, and experience the hope and bravery captured in every stroke of these young artists.
