If you're feeling stuck as a creative, read this

If you're feeling stuck as a creative, read this:

You’re not broken.

You’re not behind.

You’re not out of ideas.

You’re just… tired, overwhelmed, and doubting yourself.

Here’s to remind you why you started — and why you need to keep going

A few years ago, a friend of mine — a brilliant designer — called me in tears.

“I don’t think I have it anymore,” she said.

She hadn’t created in weeks.

She was exhausted.

And worst of all, she thought she’d lost her gift.

But here’s what I told her:

“Your creativity isn’t gone.

It’s just quiet right now.

And that’s okay.”

Because creativity isn’t a machine.

It’s a pulse. A rhythm.

Sometimes it beats loud.

Other times it whispers.

But it never truly disappears.

If you’re stuck, try this:

Instead of asking,

“What’s wrong with me?”

Ask,

“What’s my creativity trying to tell me?”

Often, it’s saying:

“Rest.”

“Play.”

“Try something different.”

“Stop doing it for likes.”

We think being stuck means we’re failing.

But often, it means we’re growing.

You’re shedding old ideas, old expectations, old pressure.

And growth always feels messy in the middle.

That same designer?

She took two weeks off.

Touched grass.

Read poetry.

Made a terrible painting for fun.

Then one day, unprompted, it hit her.

She opened Figma.

And just like that — she was back.

Softer. Clearer. Braver.

Your creativity is like a garden.

You don’t yank a flower out because it hasn’t bloomed yet.

You water it.

Give it sun.

Let it be.

Trust it will bloom in its own time.

If you’re stuck, you don’t need to push harder.

You need to return to the why.

Why did you start?

Why did you fall in love with creating in the first place?

That version of you is still in there. Waiting.

So here’s your reminder:

You’re allowed to pause.

You’re allowed to not know.

You’re allowed to feel stuck.

Just don’t let it convince you to give up.

The stuckness won’t last — but your gift will.

If you’re still reading, take this as your sign:

You haven’t lost your spark.

You’re just in a quiet chapter.

And sometimes the silence is where your next masterpiece begins.

You’re still a creative.

You’re still enough.

Keep going.
